Choosing Your Doctor – Ask Questions, It’s Your Right.
In addition to providing exceptional results, Dr. Goldberg offers transparency into plastic surgery fees for our patients to compare value. Surgical outcome, patient safety and affordability are all discussed on the same page in a changing world dominated by a the topic of affordable care. However, it remains the patients responsibility to learn about a surgeon background, skills and reputation, You should ask important questions and not be intimidated by flashy advertisements or aggressive marketing tactics. Remember, during your consultation you are interviewing the doctor and we know it. Ask them to clarify their training and board certification. Get as sense of their skills, results and reputation. In addition to looking at photographs ask to speak to former patients, and you may want references from hospital or surgery center nurses and personnel who work with your doctor on a regular basis.
One feature of Health Care Reform is greater visibility of patient costs and fees and outcomes. We are working to create a list of fees for patients to see on this web site. They soon will be posted. Please understand that the fees are approximate as variations in procedure choices, surgery times, implant types and styles, dosing increases for botox, dysport and fillers and other factors can alter your actual charges. However, we are creating menus to publish price estimates so patients can develop their own early opinions regarding affordability.

Learning what you are paying for when you choose a Plastic Surgeon.
Dr. David Goldberg is a board certified plastic surgeon. After high school, he completed 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, 2 years of clinical research and 6 years of surgery and plastic surgery training. That is 16 years of schooling and advanced training that occurred BEFORE Dr. Goldberg was able to become certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. That comprehensive education and training is now coupled with 15 years of plastic surgery practice here on the Monterey Peninsula. Virtually 30 years of advanced education, training and practice with a focus on ONE topic: becoming an outstanding cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon to treat you and your family.
We encourage you to learn about the difference between a board certified surgeon and other non surgeons who call themselves “cosmetic surgeons”. Any doctor who completes medical school can legally call themselves a surgeon regardless of their training. A licensed ophthalmologist, dermatologist, ER doctor, gynecologist or even a family doctor may open up a cosmetic boutique, inject botox and perform surgery without any true advanced or certified training in plastic surgery. Strange as that may sound, it happens every day in every city in America. Learn more about certified plastic surgeons at www.certificationmatters.org/abms-member-boards/plastic-surgery.aspx . Additionally, very pricey doctors may inflate prices to create the illusion of quality. Unfortunately, patients have few resources for gaining excellent insights. Our best recommendation is to research your doctor and his office, seek insights from others in your community and then ask to speak to current or former patients who have had the operation you are considering. Also, please make sure your plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Also make sure your surgeon has hospital privileges. Most ‘doc-in-the-box’ type clinics have doctors that do not meet current standards for working in your community hospital.
Dr. Goldberg and his staff strive to provide all patients with the highest quality of care. Each year Dr. Goldberg completes hundreds of hours of additional study and training to advance his skills in most current cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures. Our goal is to maximize your plastic surgery results while keeping prices affordable for our working men, women and children of Monterey County and Northern California.
